Val Pedder: Office Manager

Val has worked at the practice since 1992, dragging the accounts and office administration into the twenty first century!

Without her input and application, everything would grind to a shuddering halt. She may be very much behind the scenes, but without her dedication, the hospital could not have progressed to where it is now.

The same can be said about the rest of the office team, many of whom you will have talked to, since they are usually the first point of contact when you phone in.

Hayley Pearl

As a familiar and reassuring voice down the phone, Hayley is a crucial part of our equine team.

Since joining the practice in 1993, Hayley has taken the lead in organizing the visits for our vets. This is a huge job, requiring the skills of a top level diplomat combined with a Field Marshall. Last year alone, she managed to organise around 2500 visits. This required careful balancing of John and Charlie’s rota and visit schedule, to help prevent them driving repeatedly from one side of the Island to the other!

In addition to helping triage incoming emergency calls and coordinating visits, Hayley supports the completion of many critically important equine administration tasks such as Passports, Insurance forms and Travel documentation.

Over the years, Hayley has built up a wealth of knowledge, which she is able and ready to share with others.

John Hamilton BVSc MRCVS

John qualified in 1986 and worked in two equine biased Practices in the UK before returning to Jersey in 1988, becoming a partner in 1992.We had a scare last year when John received a kick to his shoulder – proving that even the most experienced Vets are at risk when undertaking their duties.  This is just one reason why Hayley keeps on top of things as safety is critical He has a keen interest in all aspects of equine medicine and in particular in endoscopy and internal medicine. He also enjoys the small animal side of the Practice, particularly working dogs!  John has just started to ride again and has recently taken on the role of Practice Manager.

He shares his home with his wife Emma, children Natascha & Leon, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 gerbils and of course horses Paddy and Nelson. When not working he is a keen walker and enjoys boating in the summer and all aspects of snow sports in the winter, especially skiing and dog sledding, and is the chairman of the Jersey Bobsleigh Club.
